Hi Everyone!

Well, winter is definitely upon us as I gaze outside and see the fluffy white snow falling from the grey sky.  Guess that means I should get out there and rake those leaves...

In the meantime, while I'm busy doing chores, go take a look at this guest post I did for Kim Scott.  I'm thrilled to have been asked to contribute to her Blog!

No shame

October 16, 2012
What's amazing is the response I've been receiving from my book Sway.  It has proven to be a wonderful ice breaker and a great way to learn more about someone.  What has happened is that it has opened a door to being more open and comfortable about ourselves and willing to say something like "Yes! I know what you mean!" or "That happened to me too!".  It's been an astounding revelation for all of us.

What's interesting is that I often hear the phrase "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronge...

Amazing response!

October 16, 2012
The Book Launch of my debut novel Sway was a spectacular success!  We had over 40 enthusiastic fans attend, sipping wine and nibbling on delicious home made appetizers prepared by my Mom.  Some were so eager to read the book that within minutes of purchasing their own copy, they immediately began to peruse it - wow!  I spent the evening talking to numerous reporters and signing the books, overall it was a blur of non-stop activity from beginning to end.

In less than a week, I was sold out!  ...

Silent World

September 25, 2012
I recently watched the award winning movie called "The Artist".  As I watched it, I kept getting the impression that it was eerily similar to "Singing in the Rain".  Particularly near the end with the dance sequence between the two main characters where it becomes acutely obvious that it's very much like the tap dance number in "Moses Supposes".  By the way, for those of you who are curious, here's the link to that dance scene > http://youtu.be/tciT9bmCMq8

Throughout the movie I kept gritting ...

Powerful words

September 25, 2012
Gah! I've been tagged by a chain letter! I just hope it doesn't turn into a nightmare with dark, looming scenes of giant cursive words and letters chasing me through a misty graveyard as if I'm stuck in a horrendous world from Alice in Wonderland.  *shudders*

All kidding aside, I found this particular chain letter intriguing - it's an exercise that requires me to search for the first word "look" in my current novel, Compass, which is in the official editing stages.  BTW, I actually have four e...

It's official!

August 24, 2012
My first novel, Sway, is now available worldwide in paperback format! Can you believe it? Amazing!

After nearly four years of writing three books in this series, sending out lots of queries in search for a publisher across Canada and the USA,  creating the covers, obtaining the ISBN, dealing with the online bookstores, as well doing all of the advertising and marketing by myself - it's a nice change to have an actual publisher help me with all of this work this time around.

It's mind boggling...

Viva La Vida

July 30, 2012
Yes, I'm a HUGE Coldplay fan.  I went to their concert in Toronto last week.  Was it loud?  VERY.  I actually had to turn down my hearing aids.

I almost didn't get in to see them perform.  I had gotten a ticket for my birthday through Kijiji.  It took three of us to make the arrangements to pick it up and have it delivered to me.

By the time I got to Toronto on a hot, muggy day after a long drive, I was dismayed to discover that upon having it scanned in by the security staff, it wasn't val...

Tempus Fugit

Tomb Raider fans will know exactly what the latin phrase means as posted above  ;)

As many people have noticed, obviously, it's been a long time since I've added anything to my blog.  And for that, I extend my deepest apologies.  I've been swamped with getting my third novel finished as well going through the official stages of editing my first book at the same time.  Talk about overlapping jobs.  And yes, writing a book really is a full time job.  Good news, all that hard work has paid off! ...

Distractions

May 26, 2012
It's days like these with more technology at our disposal that makes it harder to get our work done, especially from home.  There are distractions everywhere, aside from the usual interruptions that leave a broad pen stroke across the page from being startled such a sudden phone call or doorbell, there's the online stuff that constantly beckons us to the computer or mobile device.

I got hooked onto Twitter over a year ago and use it every single day.  I love being up to date on social events...

Inspiration is everywhere, you just have to know where to look...

Every writer has those moments of sudden inspiration which opens the flood gates of creativity.  Alas, there is always another side to that, moments that we all dread - those hours or days of procrastination, where we circle the writing desk, trying to rope in all of those wild and random thoughts and transform them into a believable story. Sometimes once we get started, there's no stopping us.  Other times, it's a few paragraph...
