More about the Literary Classics Book Awards:

2014 was a record year for entries in the Literary Classics International Book Awards.  With entrants from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and many more places around the globe, competition was tremendous.  With an extraordinary selection of children's and young adult books our reviewers and judges had quite a lot to consider as they worked their way through impressive piles of books (and eBooks) for deliberation in this year's awards program.

We wish to thank all our reviewers and judges for their hard work and dedication to promoting excellence in literature for children and young adults.  We would also like to commend all those who entered the Literary Classics book awards this year.  -- For your efforts to bring exceptional literature to life, we thank you.

The Literary Classics Mission:

At Literary Classics, it is our mission to honor excellence in children's and young adult literature, thereby encouraging a passion for reading while promoting education, imagination and character in young readers.

The Latin text on the Literary Classics awards seal affirms the Literary Classics Mission Statement.  Loosely translated, it states that classic literature is: The key to knowledge and creativity while promoting strong core values.

Leftenant?

October 1, 2014

I was watching Sleepy Hollow and realized that Ichabod was pronouncing the word "Lieutenant" as "Leftenant". I had to put the show on pause and ponder about that.  I was supremely curious as to the origins of why it was said like that.

Since I'm Canadian and used to hearing and spelling certain words in a particular manner, such as "colour", "favourite" with the letter u in it since it denotes to our British ties, namely the Queen, I began to wonder why it sounds different on American shows. ...

More awards and reviews!

September 3, 2014

Holy cow! What a day! It was full of surprises.

I did not know what to expect when I woke up this morning to a dreary, rainy day. I certainly was not all that enthusiastic, especially having a cat sleeping on my face and smacking me in the nose to wake up...it wasn't until I checked my messages that I was rendered speechless.

Sway was given a 5 Star Award and a sweet review from Readers' Favorite:

"Sway tells the story of Jessie, a teenager who needs to wear hearing aids and who becomes the t...

Totally British.

September 3, 2014

Just watched "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" and this movie far exceeded my expectations. It was like being immersed in a book as you slowly go on a long journey and discover the world through new eyes.

Fair warning, it's a British film. Totally, completely and utterly British. It's hilarious if you truly understand their sense of humour.

The film was filled with supremely talented actors such as Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Thomas, and a special, SWEET surprise, Tom Mison (star...

Another awesome award!

August 26, 2014

Sweet! Compass just received an award from Stargazer Literary Prizes - it was selected as a Finalist today! Wow!

It came with such a lovely review too!

Here's the review - enjoy!

Compass is the sequel to Sway, written by Jennifer Gibson. The book follows the life of a girl who is hearing impaired. Life for Jessie is a juggling act, learning to be happy and whole in a world of persistent antagonists and obstacles impeding her path towards a “normal life.” You will find yourself alongside...

Published in InD'tale magazine!

August 19, 2014
Sweet! One of my stories was featured in InD'tale Magazine on page 40 in the August 2014 issue - I had a lot of fun writing it and it's such a sweet, and hilarious, tale about my family.

Yes! That's my ad on there too! Unfortunately it's missing the 2014 Finalist and Honorable Mention for Best Cover from the RONE awards. Oh well...

Definitely take the time to visit their website if you can, there's loads of fun stuff on it: http://www.indtale.com/
