Jennifer Gibson, an award-winning author from Warkworth, Ontario has been officially named a HearStrong Champion from the HearStrong Foundation (Syracuse, NY). Not shy about her hearing impairment, she continues to inspire people with her determination to live out her dreams. A former ice hockey player and martial artist with two black belts, she has set her sights on fencing in Foil and Sabre at two clubs in Peterborough and Kingston.
In addition to writing, she is also an illustrator, photographer and book cover designer. She decided to turn her experiences growing up with a severe to profound hearing loss into a trilogy of books featuring a hard of hearing teen to help others understand the prevalence of hearing loss as well as provide and inspiration for others going through the same experience.
Jennifer's unique trilogy series has received many kudos and awards, including winning Silver at the Literary Classics International Book Awards for Young Adult (Sway). All three of her novels have earned the Literary Classics Seal of Approval award, a top honour promoting excellence in literature.
