Good news!

I just signed a three book deal with a US Publishing company! Can you believe it? Wow! After three long years of searching I finally found one!
Although we are not surprised that an American publisher expressed interest and we long suspected that it would happen, we still held out hope that a Canadian company would pick them up since it featured a distinctly Canadian theme. Perhaps that was the charm that won them over?
This is such an exciting venture and a dream come true. Aside from the fact that I never expected to continue writing past the first book, to have all three published is simply astounding. It's incredible!
In the meantime, while I'm still working on the third book, I'm also entering short story contests for local magazines and newspapers with a new brand new story. It also features a Canadian theme and is based on an actual event that happened to me years ago. I sincerely hope it gets published too, I could really use the money since I'm completely broke right now.
Isn't it funny how something like money can compel me to work harder than ever before? I think it's the prospect of having absolutely nothing in the bank with a growing pile of unpaid bills that scares me the most. I tend to break out in a cold sweat just thinking about it.
Every year, I'm growing more and more conscious of how money is spent which is hugely ironic since I thought that by now, at my age, I would be in the majority where the average person would earn $50 000 or more. Sadly that is not reality. It would take me five years to earn that much money. If it hadn't been for the invaluable support from my family, I couldn't even imagine what my life would be like - I'm very fortunate to have a roof over my head, heat, water, internet, food and warm clothes.
If writing is what it takes to earn a somewhat decent income, then that's what I'll do!
