Embracing gratitude
Even though my routine is very different now and I’m still trying to figure out the best (ie: cheapest) grocery stores, restaurants and pet supplies, it’s an exciting venture for me to discover these places. And it’s even more fun when I’m with my fabulous neighbours, finding cool places to hang out in the community. The backdrop and change of pace is exactly what I needed. It has allowed me to grow and learn more about myself.
Everyday, I count my blessings and find things to be grateful for, regardless of how big or small it may be. There is a reason for that. I had to change my perspective in order to get out of the habit of living in fear. There is a long story related to that which I cannot go into here but needless to say, it left a deep impression on me. I was dealing with anxiety and panic attacks, and it made me realize that it needed to be resolved urgently.
This meant learning to walk away from situations or people that were too negative for me. Being exposed to difficult circumstances that I had no control over, forced me to look for more creative solutions. I had to take a step back and observe my surroundings in order to determine what was affecting me. That’s when I began to see a pattern. There were numerous factors that were infiltrating my personal space which was sapping my strength and emotional well being. By taking the time to literally meditate on what I needed, it gave me the tools to take the necessary steps for the sake of my sanity.
It required finding moments of peace everyday. It didn’t matter if it was a quick run outside by the river, taking photos of the flowers nearby, playing with my purr-babies, doing Sudoku or reading one of Gabrielle Bernstein’s books (which I highly recommend). I needed to reconnect with myself, even just for a little while, in order to grow even more.
I also needed to find gratitude in order to bring in more joy and attract good things. By doing that, it can help me accept what I have right now. It really does a make a difference to look for things to be grateful for. By focusing on the things that I appreciate, all around me, creates a more energetic shift within me.
One of the biggest things that I discovered while doing this, has been finding ways of sharing my inspiration. And that is designing artwork featuring a short and inspirational quote to share with others. This is what Gabrielle Bernstein encourages all of us to do: by sharing our love, we can inspire others in the community, and thereby encourage a more positive vibe to grow within us.
