I've met all sorts of people and kids from around the world. The ones that steal my heart are those that have a disability. Many have had a difficult life, particularly as a young child. They've endured the most unimaginable horrors that no one should ever go through. Being bullied is just one aspect of cruelty that they have encountered. I recently saw a great post written by a friend of mine who just happens to be hearing impaired like me. She hit the nail on the head describing what it's like to have a hearing loss. One sentence in particular was quite profound, this is what she said: It’s like standing outside, looking through a window, rapping on the glass and trying to talk to our family on the inside.

Writers have all sorts of tools to help them with their creative writing process. For some of us, it's sipping hot cups of coffee, nibbling on chocolate, listening to head-bopping music or having a scented candle nearby. It's not an easy task to sit down, stare at a blank piece of paper and pray that the pen magically starts writing as if we were at Hogwarts.
